A little series about the creation of the gardeners of Château-Gontier for the 1OOO Years old birthday of the city. All the creations are of course about the midlle age.

On the right of this picture you can see the top of the Hospital St Julien hospital, on the left another creation, see detail under.

The gardeners of the city worked hard to put in scene the gardens of the city for the miles years of Château-Gontier. Large a thank to them.

Hospital Saint Julien

The hospital is situated along the river Mayenne. These pictures are post treated on computer with a light blue filter on the higher part. Used the laber hospital to see the full serie about this building.


L'hopital Saint Julien est situé au long de la Mayenne. Ces photos on été retouchées informatiquement avec un leger filtre bleu dans la partie supérieure de l'image.

Hospital Saint Julien

In my post of June 10 ( hospital St Julien)I showed you the hospital Saint Julien by night. The interior is not badly either. Here a particular photograph which shows the roof of what was to be a vault (it is the entry of the hospital today). The higher part is the lower part of the active staircase on the floor, the lower part is the slope of the staircases which is of modern realization.

Dans mon envoi du 10 Juin ( hospital St Julien ) je vous montrais l'hopital Saint Julien de nuit. L'intérieur n'est pas mal non plus. Ici une photo un peu particulière qui montre le toit de ce qui devait être une chapelle (c'est aujourd'hui l'entrée de l'hopital). La partie supérieure est le dessous de l'escalier allant à l'étage, la partie inférieure est la rampe de l'escaliers qui est de réalisation moderne.

Using filter in the Garden of the source

This photograph was taken in the garden of the source with Castle-Gontier. This garden is one of the seven gardens to create by the city for its millenium. It is located close to the Mayenne river, and has a source which formerly fed a hydropathic establishment. This establishment does not exist today any more. This garden of the source is a medieval garden. It is built with part of the techniques of the time, and one finds there the plants used with the Middle Ages. I used on this photograph a filter “Dream 3” fixed on the objective. These filters are not used practically any more on the cameras numerically, but I had kept them time or I made photographs into silver. Cette photo a été prise dans le jardin de la source à Château-Gontier. Ce jardin est l'un des sept jardins créer par le ville pour son millénaire. Il est situé près de la rivière Mayenne, et possède une source qui autrefois alimentait un établissement thermal. Cet établissement n'existe plus aujourd'hui. Ce jardin de la source est un jardin médieval. Il est construit à partir des techniques de l'époque, et l'on y trouve les plantes utilisées au moyen-age. J'ai utilisé sur la photo un filtre "Dream 3" fixé sur l'objectif. Ces filtres ne sont pratiquement plus utilisés sur les camera en numérique, mais je les avais gardé du temps ou je faisais des photos en argentique. This photo was taken the evening of July 14 after the fireworks. This bridge is not in Château-Gontier but in LAVAL (30 Kms north from C-G). I did not have a tripod. I did several of them to have of them one of clear…

Château-Gontier is 1000 years old.

Our good old city is thousand years this year. To celebrate this event much demonstrations are and will be organized in this honor. On July 8 took place with the “Garden of the end of the world” (wink with Olivier) a medieval festival. I propose to you some portraits carried out during this festival.

Château-Gontier à 1000 ans. Notre bonne vieille cité à mille ans cette année. Pour fêter cet évenement beaucoup de manifestations sont et seront organisées en cet honneur. Le 8 Juillet avait lieu au "Jardin du bout du monde" (clin d'oeil à Olivier) une fête médiévale. Je vous propose quelques portraits réalisés pendant cette fête.

14 Juilet 2007 - Concours Artistique

For this day of July 14 the town of Castle-Gontier organized a contest drawing and of painting on the topic “Gontier Castle at 1000 years”. The contest took place in the streets of the city. There were several categories. Young people from 5 to 8 years Young from 8 to 13 years - Young people from 13 to 18 years. Adults amateurs - Adults confirmed amateurs and professionals I propose to you the table of the winner in the amateur category. This very coloured work festival and on July 14 and 1000 years of the city.

Pour cette journée de 14 Juillet la ville de Château-Gontier organisait un concours de dessin et de peinture sur le thème " Château Gontier à 1000 ans ". Le concours avait lieu dans les rues de la ville. Il y avait plusieurs catégories. Jeunes de 5 à 8 ans- Jeunes de 8 à 13 ans -Jeunes de 13 à 18 ans. Adultes amateurs - Adultes amateurs confirmés et professionnels Je vous propose le tableau du vainqueur dans la catégorie amateur. Cette oeuvre très colorée fête et le 14 Juillet et les 1000 ans de la ville.

Imagine….it is the black night….the lights of the city are extinct….you are on a place in centre town around you of other spectators await the spectacle.

Imaginez ....c'est la nuit noire....les lumières de la ville sont éteintes....vous êtes sur une place en centre ville autour de vous d'autres spectateurs attendent le spectacle.


Suddenly you hear several noise of sheep….then you smell in your body the beat of several drums so much the noise is strong.

Soudain vous entendez plusieurs bruit de moutons....puis vous sentez dans votre corps le battement de plusieurs tambours tellement le bruit est fort.

The black is complete you always do not see anything but you feel the vibrations….

Suddenly two large luminous eyes located at 2 meters of the ground looks at you and start to move….“The drums of fires are moving”… the devil passes .....

Le noir est complet vous ne voyez toujours rien mais vous ressentez les vibrations....

Soudain deux gros yeux lumineux situés à 2 metres du sol vous regarde et se mettent à bouger...."Les tambours de feux sont en marche" ...le diable passe.....

“In the skirts of my mom” is a participative spectacle. 3 moms await you. You lie by ground, and the mom comes to cover you with her skirt. After it takes off its skirt and slips inside. There it tells you a fantastic history. A great moment of listening to several.

"Dans les jupes de ma maman" est un spectacle participatif. 3 mamans vous attendent. Vous vous allongez par terre, et la maman vient vous recouvrir avec sa jupe. Après elle enlève sa jupe et se glisse à l'intérieur. Là elle vous raconte une histoire fantastique. Un grand moment d'écoute à plusieurs.

This car was parked close to the house Saturday morning. I was going to seek my daughters at the school (see the blog of Axelle: http://axellephotoblog.blogspot.com/).
This day there I had my camera, because it was the festival of the school. Which beautiful meeting with this old car. With you to guess which car is this?

Something Red - La Chalibaude

This week with place with Castle-Gontier "La Chalibaude". Chalibeaude is an old tradition for the festival of the Jean Saint. A fire was lit with the turning of a way the villageaois were going to make Chalibaude. Of Germanique origin that means: Heat and Joy
During 2 days the town of Castle-Gontier, lives at the rate/rhythm of Chalibaude. Free and varied spectacles 11h00 at Midnight. Here you see an image of the spectacle “transport exceptional” This spectacle puts in scene a dancer and an excavator.
The music in support is a sad opera with only one female way. Attraction and repulsion between the masculine and female (excavator is female in French) the duet between iron and the flesh. Duration of the spectacle 20 minutes Companie of the beautiful Gesture (Valley of Reuil- 27)

Ce week à lieu à Château-Gontier "La Chalibaude". La Chalibeaude est une ancienne tradition pour la fête de la Saint Jean. Un feu était allumé au détour d'un chemin les les villageaois allaient faire la Chalibaude. D'origine Germanique cela signifie :Chaleur et Joie

Pendant 2 jours la ville de Château-Gontier, vit au rythme de la Chalibaude. Spectacles gratuits et variés de 11h00 à Minuit. Ici vous voyez une image du spectacle "transport exceptionnels" Ce spectacle met en scène un danseur et une pelleteuse.

La musique en support est un opéra triste avec une seule voie féminine. Attraction et répulsion entre le masculin et le féminin (pelleteuse est féminin en Français) duo entre le fer et la chair.Durée du spectacle 20 minutes Companie du beau Geste (Val de Reuil- 27)
